The agricultural eco-environment of vegetable growing areas in Fuzhou City

  • In reference of the relevant standard and background information, pollution statues of the four irrigation water sources, irrigation water in ditches and channels, soil in vegetable gardens and refuse compost in Fuzhou vegetable growing areas were evaluated based on analysis of their nitrate and heavy metal contents. The results showed that for the four main irrigation sources,Jin'an River is lightly contaminated,Baima River and the lower reaches of Minjiang River are slightly polluted, and Bayi Reservoir is clean. They can all be used as irrigation vater. But for the irrigation water in ditches and channels, the pollution condition is different, with content of Hg over the critical level at Yuefeng and Heling in eastern part of the region, and content of Pb being seriously over the critical level at Changting in western part of the region. For the vegetable soils, except for Cd,other heavy metal contents are all less or more over the critical level. The heavy metal contents in garbage are in accord with the national standard, but its contents of Cr,Pb,Hg,As are higher than those in vegetable soils, which may be the main reason causing the contamination of vegetable soils and heavy metal pollution to vegetables.
